The Power of Bold Talent

At STARZ, our B.E. B.O.L.D. values guide everything we do—including how we hire. As the entertainment industry evolves, so has our vision as a company. We understand that starting your career in entertainment can feel overwhelming, especially if your path hasn’t been traditional. We encourage you to embrace that difference! Share how your unique experiences and skills can spark fresh ideas, bring new perspectives, and infuse bold energy into our team. To help you get started, we’ve put together some early entertainment career resources and tips.

How to Stand Out with Your Application

Are you ready to become a standout candidate? Take a look at these tips to help you put your best foot forward during the application process.

Find connections between the job listing and your resume

To start, review your resume and the job description again to identify connections between them. Where do they align? A great resume should showcase your skills as well as how you meet the requirements of the job.

Highlight Your Career, Skills and Accomplishments

We want to understand your background and accomplishments, so focus on showcasing your experience, skills, and certifications over visuals or headshots. If your path is nontraditional, highlight transferable skills and experiences that demonstrate adaptability, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving—qualities that translate across industries and show how you’ll make an impact at STARZ.

Write a Cover Letter

We don’t require cover letters at STARZ. However writing a cover letter gives you the chance to go beyond your resume and share your story in your own voice. It helps you stand out by showing your passion for the role, explaining how your experiences connect to STARZ’s mission, and highlights the unique perspective you’d bring to the team.

You’ve Got The Interview – Now What?

Storytelling is key

The secret to standing out during your interviews is how you tell the story behind your experience and skills. Focus on what motivated your career journey, the skills you’ve gained along the way, and how your unique perspective can contribute to STARZ’s bold and creative culture.

Be bold with questions

Preparing great questions for your interviewer demonstrates your interest in the role and shows you have a learner’s mindset. Prepare thoughtful and unique questions beforehand that show off your acumen and your specific interest in STARZ. Plus, this is a chance for you to get to know us!

Do your research

Check out your interviewer on LinkedIn. Get familiar with your interviewer’s background and experience. Feel free to prepare any questions that are unique to them. Make sure you conduct thorough research and review job descriptions carefully to understand the scope and layout of our company and positions.

Know our culture

Get to know the ins and outs of life at STARZ by checking all our resources throughout the career site to understand what we value and how you would add to our culture.

Prepare to interview virtually

Choose a quiet area with good lighting and a background free of distractions. Test your tech beforehand by ensuring your audio and camera are properly functioning. Join on time, give 100% of your attention, and turn off distractions. Keep your camera on to strengthen the connection and communication.

Dress to impress

Your interview is an opportunity to leave a memorable first impression. We suggest selecting attire that makes you feel confident and ready to perform at your best.

Be authentic

Showing your genuine enthusiasm for the role is the best way to create a fantastic first impression in interviews. Authenticity is crucial for building trust and ensuring you’re representing your whole self.

Be mindful with AI (for preparation)

Using AI tools to help you prepare or draft materials like cover letters or applications may seem helpful, but be sure all information is accurate and truthful. Keep in mind the interviewer needs to assess your individual thoughts, experiences, and accomplishments – not AI’s.

Leave a Lasting Impression

Elevate your candidacy by leaving a lasting impression following the conclusion of your interview.
  • Take notes during your interview
    • We encourage you to take notes during the interview to not only capture the question but highlight any insights from your interviewer. Use these during your follow ups to make it personal.
  • Don’t wait on the thank you
    • Prioritize sending a prompt and thoughtful thank you note to your recruiter to pass on to the hiring team. Use your notes to help recall discussion points afterwards to tailor your note.
  • Follow Up
    • Be sure to follow up with the recruiter for updates on your candidacy. This also shows your enthusiasm for the role!
